Rescued from the wrecking ball, Litchfield’s century-old opera house is back in business

For more than 100 years, the Litchfield Opera House has served the West Central Minnesota community as a cultural and civic gathering place. The building seemed destined for demolition in the early 2000s, but as Don Lee reports, a volunteer-led effort obtained Legacy funding to help restore the building to active use. Cleaning Minnesota’s water, one septic system at a time

Faulty septic systems pose a huge problem in much of rural Minnesota. They pollute the environment, but the cost of fixing them is out of reach for many property owners.
