What We’re Reading Producer & Staff Librarian Tammy Bobrowsky talks with MN children’s book writer Elizabeth Barrett (Red Lake Ojibwe). Her book is called Mashkiki Road. The story follows three children who journey into the woods for medicine for their grandmother and meet animals representing the Seven Grandfather Teachings. It is vividly illustrated by Jonathan Thunder (Red Lake Ojibwe) (Bowwow Powwow). Elizabeth tells us how the Seven Grandfather Teachings was a good way to help the children in Red Lake focus on rebuilding their personal communities after being in isolation during the pandemic.
