Howard Sivertson is a descendent of an Isle Royale fishing family. His family has a connection to the island that spans over 118 years. The lifestyle of Howard’s family changed dramatically over time when Isle Royale National Park was established in 1941. In this edition of Moments in Time, Howard shares his experience surrounding the decline of commercial fishing on the island, and the beginning of the park.
The University of Minnesota Crookston Community Band will perform its 2017 holiday and semester ending concert on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium. The concert will feature three sections: Celtic music from Ireland and Scotland; Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” including narration; and several holiday musical selections.
