Bemidji Community Theater: Playing it forward with a book drive!

The Bemidji Community Theater (BCT) has taken on a campaign to give back to the community in one way or another. This time, it’s the Play it Forward Book Drive. They plan to collect 3,000 gently used books ranging in reading levels from kindergarten thru 8th grade. BCT will then give a book to every youth who attends their next play, the Elves and the Shoemaker.

Jaques Art Center Community Canvas Event

The Jaques Art Center has been bringing visual art experiences to the Aitkin area for 22 years. This weekend kicked off their latest exhibit, Community Canvas, created by people who live in and love the Aitkin area. We spoke with Barden Heft the President of the Jaques Board of Directors. The Untold Story of the Richard C. Wilson St. Cloud Community Outpost

In today’s installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits and then revisits the Richard C. Wilson St. Cloud Community Outpost, otherwise known as the COP House, on the Southside of St. Cloud. Back in 2017, city officials and community partners held a dedication and open house for the COP House where numerous speeches promised that this innovative program would make a difference is this difficult neighborhood. Two years later, St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis and Officer Dan McClure discuss how those promises appear to have been kept as the city has just been awarded the Justice Anthony L. Sutin Civic Imagination Award by the U.S. Justice Department.


The Untold Story of the Great River Regional Library’s First Annual Comic-Con

In today’s installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits the Great River Regional Library in St. Cloud for their first annual Comic-Con.
This all ages event featured comic book artists and writers, cos-players, D&D, Pokemon, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Magic, and much more. It also welcomed over 500 guests and wrapped up with an inspirational artists’ panel focused on braving the world through the development and creation of art.


Drug Use in Your Community , Keewatin, MN

Opioid drug use is expanding in rural communities. There is a series of community forums being offered in Itasca, Northern St. Louis, Aitkin and Pine Counties in Minnesota to help find community based solutions to the problem. Host Grant Frashier attended the first meeting held in Keewatin and talked with Kelly Chandler with Itasca County Public Health.
