Community Radio stations in Minnesota have strengthened their Arts and Culture coverage through a unique program that provides funds to subsidize their programming.

In an era of media instability, Northern Community Radio is banking on the kind of sensibility found in that exchange – smart, topical, chatty – to remain vibrant in this region of blue-collar workers, cabin dwellers and outdoors enthusiasts.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) awarded a grant of $314,106 to the National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB) to work with 10 public radio stations serving rural communities as part of NFCB’s “Community Counts” initiative.
Ampers, the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations, and the Steve
Rummler Hope Network are teaming up to fight the opioid crisis. The newly created partnership
will focus on opioid education, prevention, and awareness.

Listeners near and far have come to appreciate the little community station broadcasting on the tip of Minnesota's Arrowhead.

WTIP Community Radio has announced the lineup for the Radio Waves Music Festival, Sept. 7th - 9th, at Sweetheart’s Bluff in the Grand Marais Recreation Area. This marks the 11th year of the family-friendly festival, which features a diverse mix of local and regional artists.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced April 25 that WTIP is
among the winners of the 2018 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.

WTIP Executive Director Debbie Benedict, who’s been at the helm since 2001, is retiring from her position as of June 1. Deb will be further recognized and celebrated in the months ahead for her outstanding leadership and service to the station.
