MN90: The Veterans’ Powwow

While many American Indian powwows include an honor song for veterans, the annual Memorial Day powwow at Mille Lacs Indian Museum is special because it’s organized by veterans, for veterans. MN90 Producer Andi McDaniel speaks with Travis Zimmerman, site manager of the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post in Onamia, to find out more.

MN90: Habla Español, Minnesota?

It’s increasingly common for elementary school students to learn a foreign language, and even to travel abroad. But as MN90 Producer Andi McDaniel discovers, in the age of Don Miguel, who taught young Minnesotans Spanish through his PBS television show Ya Hablamos Español in the 1960s, learning about conjugation on a black and white TV was a special treat.

MN90: The Man Behind Charlie Brown

Charles Schulz came up with the characters for his incredibly popular comic series Peanuts based on people in his life, and shy, clumsy Charlie Brown was based on Schulz’s own withdrawn personality. But unlike Charlie, Charles Schulz was no loser. In fact, as MN90 Producer Andi McDaniel discovers, Schulz was the highest paid cartoonist of all time.
