Hope For The New Year

The crew plans to talk about their hopes for 2022, get sidetracked by a discussion about female safety, then discuss about the verdict in the Kimberly Potter case. Just a typical conversation in the lives of our crew members.

Granite City Radio Theater Season 10 Episode 2 with Special Musical Guests George Maurer and Judi Vinar

On Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, the weather outside the Pioneer Place on Fifth Theater was frightful, but the jolly inside was delightful as the Granite City Radio Theater Season 10 Episode 2 put a fresh layer of happy onto the holidays!

Special Musical Guests jazz pianist George Maurer and vocalist Judi Vinar joined house band Collective Unconscious for some amazing new original compositions.

Things got stranger and stranger for the Shade’s Brigade crew.

Wild Scholastica brought us a greater understanding of the plight of the “Snow Day.” Our average, everyday Central Minnesotaricans may or may not have passed The Marshmallow Test. And, of course, SuccessCo showed us the underlying humor to be found within predatory capitalism.

Plus, Heidi Jeub defends her title in Dan Barth’s Trivia Challenge!

Please tune in to our next episode of the Granite City Radio Theater on Wednesday, March 23rd with special musical guest Shannon Curfman!

5 Year Anniversary

Stay Human is five years old this week, and to celebrate we’re throwing a surprise party for the program’s production staff – hardly the hardest working person in show business, but I’m doing what I can. Can’t cram even the best of five years into 59 minutes, but we’ll sample some of the music, and some of the values, that have helped us keep it up.

Our Holidays

The holidays are among us, but each of our families celebrate in very different ways. The crew talks about the traditions their families observe during the final months and days of each year and find out just how similar we all really are.

Winter Solstice

We’re lighting the Winter Solstice candles today on Stay Human, getting ready for the midnight of the year. Cozy up for a new children’s story by Matthew Miltich, and Terry O’Brien revisits The Wind in the Willows. Carol Hepokoski tells “Troll Girl, Winter Lady and the Hag of Winter” – that’s Troll Girl pictured here. It’s the right time of year for telling stories, great music, too!

Fred Anderson plays on Roadhouse

Lutsen guitarist Fred Anderson joined Dave and Julie on The Roadhouse.

“Astro Bob” on his Antarctic adventure

We could not pass up the chance to chat with Bob King of the Astrobob blog one more time, and as luck would have it, he’s on a big adventure. Bob spoke with Dave from a cruise ship somewhere near the Falkland Islands.

MPR chief meteorologist Paul Huttner talks winter weather

Weather has been a big topic of conversation along the North Shore so far in December, starting off with a couple big snows. Julie spoke with MPR chief meteorologist Paul Huttner about what we might expect for weather the rest of this month and this coming winter.

Soul-Farewell

In our Farewell episode, we look back at what Bearing Witness has meant to Anthony and Georgia and some of the moments that made it special. We also look ahead to where hosts see themselves moving forward. From, now, Pastor Anthony’s Ministry work to Georgia’s continued coverage as an independent journalist. Goodbyes are often hard; this one more than others.
