MN90 Intro: Welcome to MN90: Minnesota History in 90 Seconds.

There have been many candy bars that have come and gone throughout the years, but one of the most intriguing was the Seven Up bar created in the 1930s by a Minnesotan manufacturer, the Pearson Candy Company.

COMMERCIAL: The Seven Up bar is unique.

But what was so special about this candy bar? Unlike your traditional candy that highlights one or two different flavors, the Seven Up bar contained seven chambers of different fillings.

COMMERCIAL: All are covered with delicious dark or milk chocolate. Seven Up for seven taste treats in one remarkable candy bar.

The flavors changed over the years, but the most memorable flavors were coconut, butterscotch, Brazil nut, cherry cream, orange jelly, fudge, and caramel. The Seven Up bar was discontinued in 1979 to the dismay of many across America. Many companies have tried to recreate it, but none have been successful in mastering the art of the Seven Up.

MN90 Outro: MN90 is produced by AMPERS, diverse radio for Minnesota's communities, made possible by funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Online at mn90.org.
