Morningbird is the new name of the folk duo of Rob Wheeler and Jill Burkes of Hibbing, MN. They’re no strangers to playing music in the Northland, but have their very first recording out called Cosmic Escape. As the Greenwood Fire and other fires continue, there may be health impacts (such as smog) that will impact local residents and nearby communities. Dr. Laalitha Surapaneni , an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School, joined Brian to talk about the impacts of poor air quality as well as the intersection of climate change and health.

Nineteenth Annual Selby Avenue Jazz Fest Is Live This Saturday

The Selby Avenue Jazz Fest is live, Saturday September 11 from 11 AM till 7:30 PM. As usual, Michael Wright, owner of the Golden Thyme Coffee and Cafe, and David Bonko combine to produce it. This year, the headliner is International artist Nachito Herrera from Saint Paul. In a conversation with Phil Nusbaum, Michael addressed how the fest got Nachito to perform.

Sharing a wide range of resources, the Quad Cities have a symbiotic relationship that continues today. In that spirit, Quad Cities First Thursdays pairs artists and performers with businesses throughout the Quad Cities every first Thursday of the month. Ducks, Drought, and Teal Season: A conversation with MN DNR’s Steve Cordts

The drought is having an effect on multiple aspects of regular life in Minnesota. Minnesota DNR Waterfowl Specialist Steve Cordts joined the morning show to discuss the work he does and the impact the drought has had on waterfowl as well as the wetlands they use for sustenance. He also discussed Minnesota’s upcoming teal season for which opening day is this Saturday. It will be Minnesota’s first teal season since 1965.
