Kendra Glenn started singing as a young kid in Chicago. She has blossomed into a busy upper midwest soulful singer who also writes some of her songs. Kendra sings Friday and Saturday October 1 and 2 at the Umbra in Minneapolis. When she spoke with Phil Nusbaum, Kendra first addressed her early interest in singing.

NUNNABOVE Releases New Single

The new song by NUNNABOVE is called “Connection.” NUNNABOVE is a group of four brothers and sisters from Woodbury who perform and record their own brand of pop. When Phil Nusbaum visited with the group, the talked turned to how NUNNABOVE fans were really liking the musical introduction to Connection.

Gillian & Amara Bedford: A legacy of creativity, positivity, and love

Gillian Bedford has been painting and exhibiting for decades. Her most recent exhibit “Landscapes and Abstracts of the North Woods” is currently on view at the MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids, MN. Her daughter Amara Bedford is showing her first solo art show “A Visual Celebration of Nature as our Healer” across the street at the Old Central School in Grand Rapids. They’ve been inspiring and supporting each other creatively for decades. In this Area Voices learn about their individual journeys with art, how their family life cultivated wonder, Amara’s focus on art as therapy, their individual styles and processes, and of course their exhibits!

Ben Miller and Chris Holm – Live on Scenic Route

Ben Miller is a New York based songwriter originally hailing from Minnesota, and the lead singer of The Federales, a folky country-rock group from the Twin Cities. He’s joined by frequent collaborator and Northwest Minnesota native Chris Holm for some live tunes on the Scenic Route, ahead of their show at the Gunflint Tavern in Grand Marais.

Alexander Craig is a Minnesota guitarist who’s been playing blues-influenced rock and roll for the better part of 20 years in the Twin Cities. Now releasing music under his true name, he has a new single out “Atmosphere You’re Under”. He talks with Will Moore about how a trade with his uncle sparked his music career, upcoming music videos, and more.
