En route to a PhD in creative writing, Brian Laidlaw was struck by the work of French Canadian poet Emile Nelligan. Brian would up translating the work, and then composing music and recording it on a CD called The Aster. In a conversation with Phil Nusbaum, Brian told how the project got started.
As we near the winter season, we thought we’d check in with Jayson Hron of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority. Jayson is the communications and marketing director there and he joined Dave on The Roadhouse.

You likely know Paul Huttner as the chief meteorologist at MPR, but did you know he’s also a songwriter and musician? And he’s recently released an album called “Sunset Paradise” on Bandcamp. Paul joined Julie and Dave to tell us more about the album.

There’s a shortage of blood right now, and more people are needed to step up and give. Julie spoke with Kara Gavin, lead public relations rep at the University of Michigan academic medical center. Kara has given 5 gallons so far and shared some of her firsthand knowledge of donating blood.
