If you’ve been curious about cross country skiing but don’t have the gear or anyone to show you how to do it, The Bemidji Area Cross Country Ski Club is hosting “Take A Friend Skiing” today at Movil Maze north of Bemidji!

From 1-4pm Sunday, February 27th kids and adults can try out cross country ski gear and experience cross country skiing!

The Power of Story in Ojibwe Language and Culture: Michael Migizi Sullivan

Michael Migizi Sullivan is a professor of Ojibwe Language and Culture at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College near Hayward, WI. His professorial work as well as collaborations with the Rosetta Stone Ojibwe Language program and a recent children’s book series aim to revive the Ojibwe language and cultivate deeper cultural understanding and connections.

Reflections on Teaching: A Passion for Learning

Bemidji State University English professor Dr. Mark Christenson recently published a collection of essays and poetry at the encouragement of his student, who became the editor of the book, Joanna Dymond. In this Area Voices segment, Dr. Christensen discusses the joys of teaching English, his lifelong love of words and language, how he changed his own mentality in order to change the culture in his classrooms, and how it feels to be facing retirement after 46 years on the school clock.
