Hunters and environmentalists team up to protect miles of Mississippi shoreline

In what’s been called “a significant addition” to protected spaces in central Minnesota, the Mississippi River Northwoods Project will create several miles of protected river shoreline near Brainerd, preserving places to swim and fish, stands of wild rice, forested land and wildlife habitat. Despite its multi-million-dollar price tag, Don Lee reports that the land acquisition has earned widespread support for its expected recreational and environmental benefits.
