Kay’s father after moving to Montana with Kay’s mother and family, missed his tribe and moved back to Nett Lake while Kay was still a baby. Kay’s mother was very sensitive about her time spent teaching on the reservation and did not wish to share much about her experience there. Kay did not find out about her Indian Heritage until later in her life.
