Alan J. Carlson is a retired diplomat living in Minnesota who is very active with the “Great Decisions” program, a monthly open discussion group based on the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions program, at many sites across the country, including here in Cook County, that focuses on international issues. You can learn more about the group here. Alan was recently in Grand Marais to facilitate the Great Decisions discussion on nuclear negotiations. The next local Great Decisions meeting will be held on Thursday, May 16 from noon to 1:30 pm at the Cook County Community Center. The topic will be "Decoding U.S.-China Trade". On May 3, Foreign Service Day, Alan joined The Roadhouse to fill us in on what the day means and share some of his experiences from his career as a diplomat.
