Worthington’s Creative Healing Space is an arts center where both youth and adults can engage in healing through various types of art, including journaling, painting, spoken word, fashion, and music. By providing these creative outlets, the center creates a safe environment for processing trauma while building meaningful connections among participants of all ages.

Katharine DeCelle: In Worthington, Minnesota, a youth-centered art space is inspiring hope one brush stroke at a time.
Suree: Worthington is a town of 14,000 and there's so much diversity and so much potential and talent here.
Katharine DeCelle: Suree founded Creative Healing Space in 2019, after struggling with mental health issues.
Suree: And I realized, if art is this healing for me, I know that it would be healing for my community.
Katharine DeCelle: Creative Healing Space offers healing through art activities and workshops for youth and adults.
Suree: It’s really hard to even accept some of the things that you know is really traumatic, and to voice that, but to like paint it, or to turn it into writing, it's easier to comprehend.
Katharine DeCelle: Suree says teaching different art mediums to young people help them express their feelings in a healthy way.
Suree: Journaling, painting, spoken words, art, fashion, music.
Katharine DeCelle: Minnesota's Clean Water, Land and Legacy Fund covers all the art activities and all the art workshops.
Suree: Which is healing, because we're promoting joy, we're promoting community, we're promoting connection.
