The self-titled CD has original music plus pieces that have been around awhile. But, Pavel told Phil Nusbaum that even the bossa nova classics everybody knows get new spins from Ticket to Brasil.

This Twin Cities Jazz Festival takes place multiple times of year, and locates itself indoors or out, according to the season. It’s an event with a great track record that owes to experience and a desire to serve the public. The Festival is directed by Steve Heckler, and he talked about how the festival does it.

Ray Barnard is a pianist who refuses categorization. His thing is noticing the multiple stylistic possibilities for good songs. You can hear how he does it at his show at the Lexington in Saint Paul, Friday night October 11 from 8 till 11 PM. In a conversation with Phil Nusbaum, Ray said that he’s always enjoyed combining musical genres.
Northeastern Minnesota is one of the darkest places in the world, making it great for nighttime sky viewing. Voyageurs National Park is applying for certification from the International Dark Sky Association. Ashley Wilson, dark sky intern at the park joined Julie on The Roadhouse to tell us more about dark skies and the certification process.
The Dang Ol’ Tri’ole is a 5 person bohemian folk group from the Twin Cities. They joined Dave and Brian on The Roadhouse to perform some of their original songs for us.
