Eric Christopher and Anthony Ihrig have years of experience playing in the 5-piece High 48s bluegrass band. But lately they’ve been working together as a duet, and the two are finding it a great experience. According to Eric the fiddler, playing tunes as a duet actually freshens them up for Eric and Anthony.

The Federales bring country music to The Roadhouse

The Federales are a country-rock band from Minneapolis. While in Grand Marais for a weekend full of shows at the Gunflint Tavern, the group joined Annie and Julie to make their Roadhouse debut.


Using acupressure as a way to relieve lower back pain

A recent study finds that acupressure can improve chronic pain symptoms in the lower back. Dr. Suzanna Zick joined Annie on The Roadhouse to tell us more about the traditional Chinese medicine technique. Dr. Zick is the co-director for the integrative family medicine program at the University of Michigan.


CD Compilation of Top Twin Cities Jazz Released at the Black Dog, Saturday November 23

Saturday Nov 23 marks the 287th consecutive week that Steve trumpeter Kenny has booked jazz into the Black in Saint Paul. And on that night at 7PM, Volume 3 of the Twin Cities jazz sampler will be released to the public. Groups led by Ted Olsen, Lila Ammons and Steve Kenny will perform. When Steve talked to Phil Nusbaum, they spoke first of the Ted Olsen Quintet.

Nik Nerburn is a documentary storyteller, a photographer, a blogger and a filmmaker. He’s also the Greater Minnesota Outreach Associate for MNartists.org. MNartists.org is a website that is home to art, writing, project opportunities and conversations by, for and about Midwestern artists working in every discipline. He spoke with us on the morning show about the many ways MNartists.org is a powerful resource for artists living all across the Midwest and specifically how it can be a resource for rural artists.
