Scott McCafferty is the bass player for Floydian Slip – a long-running jam band from the South Shore of Lake Superior on the Bayfield peninsula in Wisconsin. The band is celebrating 20 years together, and giving back to the community that has supported them for so long with a pair of special shows at their local theatre. McCafferty talks with Will Moore about the origins of the group and how having such in-tune musical tastes and goals has led them to such a long and thriving career.
This Mahtowa, Minnesota singer/songwriter is releasing her latest album, Boss Mama, on Friday, August 23 at Wussow’s Concert Cafe, backed by her band Jebberhooch, which includes members of The Holy Hootenanners and The Brothers Burn Mountain. We looked forward to hearing some of the new tunes when she joined us in the studio that afternoon for a live session.
This Minneapolis soulful indie pop group was founded early last year by singer/songwriter Rachelle LaNae and producer Andrew Frederick, both multi-instrumentalists. A member of The Pines, Huckfelt recently released his first solo album, ‘Stranger Angels’. It was the culmination of spending two isolated weeks as an Artist in Residence for the National Park Service on Isle Royale. He drew in friends ranging from Dave Simonett of Trampled by Turtles to Amelia Meath of Sylvan Esso to record the album. Huckfelt performs as part of the Water is Life Festival happening on Sunday, July 21 at Bayfront Festival Park. He joined us in the studio to talk about the new album and share some tunes on Wednesday, July 17 at 2pm.
