In today’s installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits the Great River Regional Library in St. Cloud for their first annual Comic-Con.
This all ages event featured comic book artists and writers, cos-players, D&D, Pokemon, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Magic, and much more. It also welcomed over 500 guests and wrapped up with an inspirational artists’ panel focused on braving the world through the development and creation of art.
The Season Finale of the Granite City Radio Theater’s Season Six brought the ACTION to the Pioneer Place on 5th Theater this past Wednesday, May 16th with special musical guest Billy Scherer joining Collective Unconscious.

The crew from Shade’s Brigade found themselves wrapped up in the movies while Dan Barth’s Trivia Challenge kinda did too. Canoise formed in St. Cloud in 1965 and is a Minnesota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Over the years, Canoise has had some interesting adventures, including being regular performers in the same Hawaiian ballroom that Elvis Presley made famous, opening up for Paul Revere and the Raiders, and much more!

In today’s Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits with members of a surprising institution in the St. Cloud theater scene that has just dropped its final curtain. The Veranda Variety Hour was a late night, adult comedy variety show that made its home at the Pioneer Place Theater for the past ten years. With a myriad of rotating and returning cast members, many of which were SCSU Theater students at some point, the show hit the stage about every other month as a mixture of part Muppet Show, part Saturday Night Live, and part avant-garde experimental theater. Yet, as with all good things, it has come to an end.
