Nature: A Walking Play Featuring Emerson, Thoreau & Nature

TigerLion Arts, a professional theater group based in Minneapolis will bring Nature: A Walking Play to both Puposky and Ely this month. The production takes audiences on a walking adventure through the meadows of northern Minnesota while showcasing the friendship between transcendentalists Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. The experience includes bagpipes, flutes, drumming, dancing and choral music.

We spoke with Catie Belleveau who is hosting the performance at her Belle Thalia Creative Arts Space in Puposky, Natalie Corcoran who will portray Ralph Emerson’s daughter Ellie in the Puposky shows, and Tyson Forbes who is the great, great, great grandson of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Forbes created the play along with his wife, fellow performance artist Markell Keifer.

Started as a pilot program in one Bemidji school about 20 years ago, now peacemaker trainings are making an impact across Minnesota in schools, businesses, organizations and personal relationships.

The two-day event kicks off Thursday evening, August 22nd, with Sandra’s presentation from 6:30-8:00 pm at the North Shelter of Old Crossing Treaty Park near Huot, MN (west of Red Lake Falls, MN).
