In today’s Untold Story of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack talks with Desiree Clark and Xakk Asphodel about this weekend’s Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration.
Formerly known as the MLK Breakfast, this enormous community gathering began in 2014 at SCSU and has grown steadily over the past few years to the point where last year’s breakfast saw more than 1,600 attendees at the River’s Edge Convention Center. In the age of COVID, however, the organizers needed to evolve the event in order for it to continue to exist. This year’s plan includes a series of online events focused on community involvement and action taking place over this weekend on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.


The Untold Story of Operation Baby New Year 2020 as They Approach One Million Donated Diapers

In today’s instalment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack checks back in with a new tradition in St. Cloud as they approach an unbelievable milestone.

Operation Baby New Year is now in its fifth year of gathering diapers for families in need within our community, and according to organizer Justin Michael, this year holds something special. By reaching this year’s goal of 160,000 diapers, which they are very, very close to, they will surpass a total of one million diapers donated over the course of their existence. All they need to do this in the last few days of the drive is just a little bit of help.


The Untold Story of Tanner Claus and Pathways4Youth

In today’s Untold Story of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer brings us a timely holiday story about how making a difference in the lives of some folks who need it the most can have a great impact within the community as a whole.

Local businessman Tanner Neubauer has partnered with Pathways4Youth to create “Tanner Claus,” a program which is gathering personalized gifts for a variety of youth that are experiencing homelessness and currently struggling to break that cycle by working with Pathways4Youth. There are currently over 100 youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are experiencing homelessness in the St. Cloud area.


The Untold Story of The Studio: A Creative Collaborative Space with Lucille Guinta-Bates

In today’s Untold Story of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack heads into downtown St. Cloud to visit a business that has evolved during the COVID pandemic in order to continue serving a need in our community that is becoming more and more apparent.

The Studio: A Creative Collaborative Space, formerly known as Studio Jeff, sits on the corner of St. Germain Street and 7th Avenue and provides a safe, socially distanced space for creatives to practice and produce their craft. New owner Lucille Guinta-Bates and Jeff discuss the importance of having a creative practice during this upcoming winter and talk a little bit about The Studio’s upcoming virtual open house on December 18.
