RADIO PRODUCER/REPORTER (FREELANCE – CONTRACT)
The Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations (Ampers) is seeking experienced radio producers to write, edit, and produce segments for our Arts & Cultural Heritage programs and/or our MN Department of Health programs. Producers will be working on “Minnesota Native News,” “MN Native News Health Report,” segments and other projects. The segments air on the 18 member stations throughout Minnesota.
Duties include:
Researching, writing, editing, and producing the segments
Conducting on-site or zoom interviews to be used in the segments
Utilizing relevant sound elements to make segments more interesting and entertaining
Communicating progress about the project to Ampers Program Director on a regular basis
Posting and promoting segments on social media
Additional duties as assigned by Ampers Program Director and CEO
Required Qualifications: Strong computer skills. Strong writing and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Some radio production and audio editing experience.
Equipment Requirements:
Candidates must have access to their own recording equipment
Candidates must provide their own transportation when needed
Compensation: Contract producers will be paid on a per-segment basis.
Relationships: Candidates will report to the Ampers Program Director
Conditions of Employment:
These positions are contract/freelance positions. The successful candidates will provide their own transportation related to all Ampers work. Program Descriptions:
Minnesota Native News is an award-winning five-minute weekly radio segment covering ideas and events relevant to Minnesota’s Native American communities. MN Native News stories cover economic, cultural, health, government, and public policy issues that impact Indian country in Minnesota. MN Native News, airs on 14 of the Ampers stations, reaching more than 124,000 listeners each week, and is shared through digital media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Funding for Minnesota Native News is made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
The MN Native News Health Report is a five-minute bi-weekly radio segment covering ideas and events relevant to Minnesota’s Native American communities, with a specific focus on exploring how Indian Country in MN is responding and adapting to the current pandemic health crisis.
In 2022, the MN Native News Health Report will keep listeners informed and up to date on the latest health and vaccine news. The segments will also explore how tribal community members and organizations are weathering the challenges brought on by COVID-19 and look at how traditional wisdom and culture provide strength during the pandemic and vision for the future.
MN Native News Health Report, airs on 14 of the Ampers stations, reaches more than 124,000 listeners, and is shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Funding for Minnesota Native News Health Report is made possible by the Minnesota Department of Health.
