Let’s Visit Park Rapids: Paul and Pat Dove

Minnesota Arts, Culture and History | Northern Community Radio – KAXE & KBXE
Park Rapids, MN is becoming as well known for its arts scene as it is for its outdoor recreation opportunties. Paul and Pat Dove Paul are a big reason why. Bucking the norm of snowbirds, the Doves retired and moved north from Indiana to Park Rapids, MN. They've been instrumental in making Park Rapids a Designated Arts Community. In the nearly 20 years since making Park Rapids their permament home, they've organized the Northern Light Opera Company(NLOC) which brings opera and other musicals to the stage every summer and they started the Park Rapids Lakes Area Arts Commission(PRLAAC) that allows numerous arts organizations to collaborate with the goal being success for all. Let's Visit producer Katie Carter spoke with the Doves about how they ended up making Park Rapids their retirement home, how they worked to ensure NLOC was a success, what happens at PRLAAC and what their hopes are for the future of Park Rapids.
