Seasoned photographer Andy Hall of Crookston, MN finds beauty within the northern prairie of Minnesota, and he captures those nuggets of beauty with his camera. After two decades of life in the metro Andy left the Twin Cities and discovered the “sweet life” in the northwestern corner of the state.
This week on The Live Feed, the bluegrass roots duo The DitchLilies performed at Ed’s No Name Bar in downtown Winona. The group has ranged from 2 to 4 members, but Kari Larson and Lisa Schultz have been playing as a pair for over 10 years. Between the two of them, the girls play a variety of instruments ranging from the mandolin, ukulele, banjo and guitar. Self-proclaimed “song-collectors”, they like to bring to life the old-timey songs that would perhaps otherwise never be heard. They mostly play traditional Americana music with roots in Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, and Merle Haggard, but always manage to put their own spin on the classics.
