On this edition of Don't Cha Know, Richard Hammergren WSU jazz WSU professor and professional musician stops by to update us on The Black Tie Jazz concert taking place on July 24th at 7:30 PM in Somsen Auditorium on the campus of Winona State University in Winona MN. With original scores bequeathed to him by Talbert, Winona State University professor Richard Hammergren will take the stage as Musical Director and trumpet soloist, conducting the 14-piece Twin Cities Talbert Jazz Orchestra. Several of these fine musicians, including Hammergren, were original members of this orchestra in Minneapolis from 1959-1962. Also featured for the event is vocalist Mary Hammergren and special guest pianist Bette Talbert. WSU's Director of Jazz Studies, Rich MacDonald, will serve as Artistic Director for the event and perform as the orchestra’s drummer. Internationally celebrated author and jazz radio talk show personality Leigh Kamman will host the event.
