Most of us don’t think about railroads until a passing train blocks us at a crossing. We forgot about the industry after it went into decline in the 1960s and 70s. A new photo history of Minnesota railroads compels us to take another look. As Don Lee reports, it’s both a nostalgic recollection of a golden era of railroading and a surprising account of the industry’s rebirth.
