Linda LeGarde Grover begins this segment and continues to share some of her research about the boarding schools and how those boarding schools created generations of trauma. The belief that a child quote, unquote, 'could be saved' was heartbreaking for mothers and families as the federal government forced parents to send their children to the boarding schools. Today, the idea of living in a community where children were a scarcity or in absence, is very, very hard to imagine but it was the truth of the day, back in those terrible times.
