Gene Hanks 36502

Gene joined in 1963 at Fort Knox, then served 18 months in Germany during the Vietnam War. Gene was a combat engineer re-building bridges in Europe. Gene's tour in Germany was his first time traveling out of the states. He joined the Army as a source of income, see the world. Gene had to deal with civilian treatment after he came home, even though he did not see combat in Vietnam. Gene had to deal with the 'Oh your tough' mindset of the civilians around and at home.
